Biography: Born in New York City. Prior to becoming an artist attended the New York School of Music as a composition major with a minor in conducting. In 1963 under an Italian Goverment Assistance Fellowship studied advanced composition and orchestration with Victoria Reiti and Armando Renzi at the Santa Ceilia Conservatory of Music in Rome. Upon returning to New York in 1965 assisted John Cage in a series of experimental music performances at the Pocket Theatre. Moved to Los Angeles in 1967 to study painting and sculpture at The Chouinard Art Institute. Received a B.F.A. in 1970. Upon graduation joined the faculity as a drawing and painting instructor while attending The University of Californa as an Art History Candidate. After receiving a Masters Degree taught at various Universities in California while maintaining a studio and concentrating on an exhibition career. Returned to New York in 1985. |
